Description:
"Learning to Trust Again"
A famous American once offered this
sure-fire formula for a do-it-yourself magic trick:
"To make people disappear, ask them to fulfill
their promises" (Mason Cooley). Unfortunately,
these comical words arent far from reality.
We live in a world where "I promise" is
seldom sincere and true faithfulness is a foreign
concept.
Weve all been disappointed by promises unkept.
Our hearts have been broken by family, friends, those
in the workplace. And, yes, the pain of broken promises
can even be found in the church. We feel we can trust
no one, and so we retreat to our fortresses of distrust
and suspicion. We start guarding our hearts, at all
costs, even to the point of doubting the sincerity
of those closest to us. This leaves us lonely and
unfulfilled, because were too afraid to trust.
Can we ever trust again?
Yes, we can. But first we have to
take down the self-made walls of protection surrounding
our hearts. Only then, when we allow ourselves to
be vulnerable, do we discover that true protection
and peace are found only in the Fathers arms.
Within these pages, youll learn the meaning
of promises kept and the true freedom that comes to
those who surrender their fortresses of fear. As you
discover the depths of Gods Unbroken Promises,
you can learn to trust again.
About the Author
Although raised as a "preachers
kid," Mitchell Taylor became acquainted with
street life early on. As a youth, he got caught up
in a life of drugs and crime, spending several years
in and out of prison and eventually developing an
addiction to heroin.
But God had other plans for Mitchell. After visiting
his fathers church one evening, Mitchell was
supernaturally changed and gave his life to Christ.
He has been seeking the Lord ever since.
Mitchell now serves as senior pastor at Center of
Hope International in Long Island City, New York.
Because of his efforts in Long Island City, CBS News
aired a national television special on him in April
of 1994. The program, which refered to Pastor Taylor
as "The Preacher in the Hood," spotlighted
the church's many outreach programs to bring hope
to the community.
In his new book, Unbroken Promises, Taylor shares
that message of hope with those beyond his local community
as he reminds readers of the wonderful glories of
God's eternal promises. To those who have been wounded
by promises unkept, Taylor brings a message of hope
for healing and renewal. We can trust again, despite
past pains, but first we have to take down the self-made
walls of protection surrounding our hearts. Only then,
when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, do we discover
that true protection and peace are found only in the
Fathers arms. As we realize the depths of Gods
Unbroken Promises, we can learn to trust again.
Reviews:
I highly recommend this book. This book helps individuals
that have been hurt through broken promises in their
lives. It will guide you to a place of trusting again.
The book gives indepth insight on how to tear down
the walls of insecurity and walls of protection. These
walls are built because of past hurts and disappointments
through broken promises. It also shows how God is
one who never breaks a promise. A great book.
